Gods of LinkedIn; give me the patience to deal with people who think they’re inspiring because they tell me they’re inspiring.
Self-appointed experts and thought leaders.
Philanthropists who give a fiver a year to the Poppy appeal.
And entrepreneurs who once sold an old mobile on eBay.
Help me handle generic “I’d like to join your network” invitations with equanimity.
And give me the courage to disconnect from those who immediately follow up a connection with a sales pitch.
Save me from the fake emotional outpourings of tearful men who’ve been told vulnerability sells
And the pouting preening photoshopped Gen Zs who tell us they want to be judged on their work rather than their appearance.
Allow me to maintain a sense of humour for those who stuff their posts with emojis, Unicode text, and exclamation marks. And with those who think LinkedIn is Facebook or a confessional box
Protect me from homily, cant and cliche. And supposedly humorous posts.
Give me the wisdom to credit those whose photos I use (Image by Himsan from Pixabay).
Most of all, give me the perspective to see the howlers in my posts before I point out the tiny typos in others’.
Amen.
